Whilst studying at the University of Rhodesia, and under the guidance of childhood friend, Benny Miller, a group of like-minded blues-loving students formed the BLUES CRUSADE.  Originally intended as a weekend pursuit the band quickly grew a fan base and were in demand.  The band appeared at the Bulawayo Texan Rock Band Contest in 1968, alongside another ground-breaking local band, THE ELECTRIC FLAG, but were unplaced in the prizes.  As a band member commented,”they just didn’t get it”.

In due course the band transitioned to the OTIS WAYGOOD BLUES BAND.
