(THE) UNEMPLOYED

Circa: 1967 – 1970
Home town:
Members:

  • Lee French – Lead vocals (and occasional bass player!)
  • HughFraser – Lead guitar
  • Bernie Millar  Rhythm guitar & vocals
  • StevePearson – Bass
  • Alan Hunter – Drums

At the outset, the band often deliberately turned Steve Pearson’s bass off to allow his confidence and level of playing efficiency to improve.  This sleight of hand escaped the audience as was evidenced by the fact that Steve was asked to give bass lessons to some of his admirers!

Bernie Millar went on to perform with bands such as The What, Messiah, Never-B-Four, Circus and the Millar Matthews Band.

Alan Hunter subsequently gigged frequently with Bernie Millar and did regular percussion session work in Johannesburg, including Foley film work.
