The multi-talented Vaughan Fransch is well know to many residents of Bulawayo where the family lived until recent years. Vaughan has interests in the pharmaceutical industry in Zimbabwe. In the early 2000’s he decided to pursue a passion he had for music and registered for a music degree at the University of Cape Town where he studied trumpet. Successfully adding a B.Mus degree to his Pharmaceutical one, Vaughan and his trumpet became regular fixtures on the Cape Town jazz scene. During this time he appeared with many leading jazz bands, including the Darryl Andrews and KGB bands. After a number of years of high profile activities in the music field, he decided to return to the University of Cape Town to study Law. Having successfully completed his legal qualifications Vaughan is now attached to the High Court in Cape Town as an Advocate. The demands of studying Law interrupted his music activities to an extent but he still seen on the jazz scene, if not playing, then supporting others enthusiastically.
